Chandlers, Admiralty chart agents

Note from a correspondent: 'My late wife, was the first lady chart corrector. She was trained by and worked for Dubois, Phillips and McCallum in 11 Rumford Place, Liverpool 3. At that time ships captains brought their navigation charts to the company to be updated. She would have been nineteen at the time, in 1947. She would have added small symbols for new shipwrecks or buoys or hazards or eradicated previous features. A former sea captain colleague had instructed her.'[1]
