Société pour les Appareils Deperdussin, a French aircraft manufacturer

Louis Bechereau was the designer of the monocoque Deperdussins, the most sensational planes of their time.

c.1912 The British Deperdussin company was established.

1913 A consortium led by Louis Bleriot bought the company

1914 Blériot became the president of the company. He renamed it as the Societe Pour L'Aviation et ses Derives (SPAD).

WWI The SPAD company produced the famous SPAD fighter aircraft flown by all the Allied countries, of which 5,600 were made for France.
