1934 Obituary [1]

DAVID EDGAR MORGAN had been a chief engineer under the Admiralty on various vessels since 1916, and had latterly served in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Services.

He was a native of Cardiff, and received his technical education at Cardiff Technical College.

From 1902 to 1907 he was apprenticed to the Bute Engineering, Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, Ltd., after which he went to sea as junior engineer, rising to be senior engineer and finally chief engineer.

During the War he served as engineer lieutenant in the R.N.R., his services being retained by the Admiralty after the Armistice. He continued to act as chief engineer under the Admiralty, to whom he was responsible for the fitting-out of certain vessels under construction and for the complete overhauling of the various vessels to which he was appointed. He also saw service as an engineer with the Admiralty Salvage Section.

In 1926 he was elected an Associate Member of the Institution.

His death occurred on 27th December 1934, in his forty-seventh year.
