1946 The US Spicer Manufacturing Co was renamed Dana Corporation in honour of Charles A. Dana who served as president of the Corporation for 50 years.
During the 1960s, the Dana Corporation became one of the world's largest independent suppliers of automotive components and replacement parts with $500 million in sales. The Corporation sought expansion through acquisition within the transportation industry. Dana became known for its ability to turn unprofitable companies around.
By 1980, Dana had developed three distinct areas of business: original equipment auto and truck parts, replacement parts, and industrial machine components.
1985 Dana Corporation of Maumee, Ohio, acquired the Warner Electric Brake and Clutch Company by merging one of its subsidiaries into Warner Electric[1]
1995 Dana Corporation acquired GKN Axles which became Dana Spicer Europe Ltd.[2]
