Damiatebrug (Dordrecht)
The Damiate Bridge is a twin-leaf lift bridge.
Built by Enthoven and Co.
The Damiate Bridge opened in April 1855 but collapsed in May 1855 because the combination of cast iron and wrought iron proved too weak. In 1857, the bridge was repaired, with the cast iron largely replaced by wrought iron. [1]
The columns are cast iron, with some wrought iron repair brackets. The counterbalanced lifting arms are wrought iron.
