1845 Complaint. 'Mr. D Wood Latham, boiler maker, Folds-road, appeared to give bail (or his appearance at the next Quarter Sessions for this Borough, to answer the following charge, for having from the 25tb day of March, 1844. up to the present time, whilst following his employment been guilty of committing a nuisance, to wit, making uncomfortable sounds to the great annoyance of her Majesty’s leige subjects, with an implement made "iron and wood,” (a boiler makers hammer), and whereas the pedestrians travelling on the said road and the dwellers in the houses surrounding the said D. W. Latham’s works, have been much disturbed by the use of the said “iron and wood.” The said noise occasioned by the active employment of the said “iron and wood” having also rendered the said houses unfit for the purposes of trade.'[1]
