1888-1891 Apprentice at works of North Eastern Marine Engineering Co

1891 Apprentice fitter, steam engine maker, boarding in Bishop Wearmouth[2]

1892-94 Works manager Macquay Electric Light Co Ltd

1894-99 Partner in H. Sims and Co cycle manufacturers of Finsbury Park

1899-1900 Assistant engineer to the National Traction Engine Owners' and Users' Association

1900-1902 General manager of Oxford Steam Ploughing Co, Cowley

1904 Became an Associate of Inst Mech Engineers; he was managing partner of Motor Transport Co, Bedford Hotel Chambers, Covent Garden, London

1905 Douglas Mackenzie acquired the consulting business in heavy motor transport of Mr Edward Shrapnell Smith at 86 Strand, London W.C.[3]

1910 Erased membership of I Mech E

1911 Alfred Douglas Mackenzie 40, manager Motor Bus Company, was boarding in Worthing[4]

1915 A director of Southdown Motor Services when the company was incorporated

1923 Traffic manager for Southdown Motor Services. [5]

1939 Alfred D Mackenzie, motor bus manager, lived in Brighton with Eva Mackenzie[6]

1944 Died in Brighton[7]
