1931 Obituary.[1]

The death of Mr. C. S. London took place on 22nd December last in London. The deceased was born in 1887, and received his general education at Glasgow High School and Dulwich College, and his technical education at the City and Guild of London Institute and Finsbury Technical College.

In 1905 he became a premium apprentice on the North-Eastern Railway and was stationed at Darlington Works until 1907, when he was transferred to Gateshead. During this time he passed through the various shops, running shed and drawing office.

In 1910 Mr. London joined the Buenos Aires and Pacific Railway as a draughtsman, but later in that year he was appointed an Assistant Shed Foreman, and a Locomotive Inspector in 1912. He then became successively Assistant to Sectional Loco. Running Superintendent, Assistant Sectional Loco. Running Supt., Assistant Divisional Loco. Supt. and Acting Divisional Loco. Supt.

On the outbreak of war, in 1914, Mr. London joined His Majesty’s Forces, receiving a commission as Lieutenant in the South Staffs Regiment. Shortly after his return to the Argentine, in 1919, he was appointed Works Manager of the Antofagasta and Bolivia Railway at Mejillones, Chili.

Mr. London was elected a Member of the Institution in 1932.
