1893 The Cutler-Hammer Manufacturing Co. was incorporated by Harry Henderson Cutler and Edward West Hammer, specializing in electric starter motors, speed regulators and field rheostats

1900 Developed first automatic motor starter

1901 the company designed the control equipment for the Panama Canal.

By the 1930s, had obtained 28 patents for the use of vacuum valves to control heavy currents

1978 Cutler-Hammer became part of Eaton Corporation adding power control and switching devices to Eaton's product range.
