Crystal Palace District Gasworks

The original works were erected on a site on the left hand side of the road leading from the Lower Sydenham railway station[1] - Crystal Palace Gasworks

Due to increased demand a new works had to be built on a new site, on the opposite side of the road from the old works.

1862 Engineered by Mr Christie, who had also designed works for the Commercial Gas Co. He used bricks from Stourbridge for the retorts[2].
