Crossrail

From Graces Guide

Crossrail is the name of the project to produce the Elizabeth line, a new railway in London, running from Reading and Heathrow in the west, through 42km of new tunnels under London to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.

2001 Crossrail Ltd was set up by Transport for London to carry out the project which it jointly sponsored with the Department for Transport (DfT).

At the time it was Europe’s largest infrastructure project.

It will be operated by Transport for London.

The Elizabeth line will serve 41 stations including 10 new stations at Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Whitechapel, Canary Wharf, Custom House, Woolwich and Abbey Wood.

2012 Tunnelling started

Completion was delayed.
