Craven Lead Works (Skipton)
The 1890/1 O.S. Town Plan here[1] shows the Craven Lead Works on Union Street (now Lower Union Street), backing onto the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. A three-storey building here, part of a new housing devlopment, was probably part of the lead works.
1932 Robert Fell and Sons of Craven Lead Works were advertising lead tapes for tennis courts [2]
1942 'Skipton Manufacturer. Mr. John Charles Fell, of Glengarry, Rallies Road, Skipton, head of the firm of Robert Fell and Sons lead manufacturers, Craven Lead Works, Skipton, has died at the age of 85. The firm, formerly known as Horner and Fell, was established over a century ago, and it has been in the hands of the Fell family since 1880. From 1909 to 1915 Mr. Fell served on the Skipton Urban Council.' [3]
