Brynberth Industrial Estate, Rhayader

Manufacturers of high speed epicyclic gear boxes.

1964 The company announced that it was to move into a former cinema in Rhayader, initially concentrating on making gearboxes for prototypes and testing applications. The managing director, Mr. R. J. Hicks, said he had chosen Rhayader because of its pleasant situation and to help with the problem of depopulation in mid-Wales.[1]

1988 The factory closed in controversial circumstances, leading to the loss of 37 jobs. The company had fallen into arrears of rent, which was owed to Mid Wales Development.[2]
