Co-operative Jam Factory, Reading

From Graces Guide

The Co-operative Wholesale Society built a factory at Coley Park, Reading to make and bottle jam.

1916 The factory was completed but, because of wartime shortages of glass and sugar, production could not start.

Part of the factory premises were used by Avro to construct the 504 aircraft.

1919 the factory started to produce preserves. It supplied CWS shops with own brand jam, tinned fruit and pickles.

1968 The factory finally closed.
