1904 'McADAMS, Christopher, Avenue Road, West Hartlepool. Cars; 1.75, 2.25, 2.75 quads, Benz, Clement, de Dion. Total distance travelled since becoming a motorist: 20,000 miles. Hobby: Cycling (was at one time a racer). Considers the motorcar not only useful for sport and pleasure, but an absolute necessity. Has had scone experience of police traps, and on one occasion scored over the "drain hiders" in a case where his motor was alleged to have frightened a horse. Is the hon. correspondent of the Motor Union for the locality.' [1]

Christopher McAdams was born in 1873 and obtained his early training and experience in connexion with the manufacture and repair of cycles.
In 1899 he founded a motor business in Stockton-on-Tees, which he subsequently transferred to Middlesbrough and developed into one of the largest sale and repair depots in the North, and of which he remained Managing Director until his death in July, 1929.
He was elected an Associate of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1909.
