Charles Newton Cooper (1893-1964) of Cooper Car Co

1893 Born in Paris, son of Charles Newton Cooper, actor

Educated in Paris and London/Tiffins School.

Apprenticed with Napiers at Acton

1911 Engineer's apprentice, lived in New Malden with his parents[1]

WWI Joined the Forces and served until demobilized in 1919;

After demobilization, opened Cooper's Garage (Surbiton)

Became Chief Mechanic to Kaye Don.

1939 Charles N Cooper 46, managing director, own account, lived in Surbiton with Elsie V Cooper, 46, Director Garage Business, John N Cooper 17, mechanic[2]

1945 founded the Cooper Car Co. and started the manufacture of the 500-c.c. Formula III racing car

1948 Became joint Managing Director and Designer of Cooper Racing Cars.

1955 Introduced the 1,100-c.c. and 1,500-c.c. sports/competition cars

1956 Introduced the 1,500-c.c. Formula II Cooper.
