Charles Henry Laverick, Member, elected in 1917, was born in Harrogate on 4th April, 1858. He served his apprenticeship on the M.S. and L. Rly. and joined the old Great Northern Railway. Co. in 1886 as a fitter at Bradford.

In 1891 he was transferred to Ardsley locomotive shed as a foreman. In 1900 he became District Locomotive Supt. at Grantham, and in 1903 at Colwick (Nottingham). In this capacity he remained until December, 1923, when he retired on reaching the age limit. He was a man of kindly disposition and much respected by his staff.

On his retirement he went to live at Donnington, near Spalding, where he took a great interest in church work, becoming a member of the Church Council; his other interest being gardening. He died after a long illness on October 26th, 1937, in his 80th year.
