CHARLES HENRY ADAMS, who was born in 1894, received his technical training at the Borough Polytechnic, London, where he obtained a diploma. After filling temporary positions as junior draughtsman with various firms in London, including Dorman Long and Company, Ltd., he joined the Royal Naval Divisional Engineers and saw service at Gallipoli and in Egypt between 1914 and 1916.

From 1916 to 1918 he was employed as a tool designer and assistant production engineer in the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich. After some experience as technical inspector in the Air Ministry and as chief tool and plant designer with G. Campling, Ltd., he was appointed advisory and purchasing engineer of the Borneo Company, Ltd.

Twelve years later he was appointed assistant manager to Worthington-Simpson, Ltd., makers of pumps and compressors, and after five years he joined Newton Industries, Ltd., where he remained until he secured an appointment as sales manager for Sigmund Pumps, Ltd.

He severed this connexion in 1948 and took a similar post with Mobile Development, Ltd., remaining with this firm until his death.

Mr. Adams was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1912 and transferred to Associate Membership in 1921.

His death occurred on 20th April 1952.
