1889 Charles Baker and Company Limited was registered, with capital of £145,000, to acquire the premises, stock-in-trade, book debts, and goodwill of the business carried on by Charles and Joseph Baker at 271 and 272 High Holborn; 137 and 138 Tottenham Court Road, 82 Fleet Street, 192 and 194 Oxford Street, and John Street, Bedford Row, as wholesale and retail clothiers and outfitters.[1]
