1957 Share placing on Birmingham Stock Exchange[2]

1968 Acquired Midland Iron Group of Cradley Heath[3].

1969 Acquired Fletcher Houston[4]

1970 Acquired Motive Electric Services, and Norton Industries of Wolverhampton[5], A. Wells, makers of toys and plastic housewares[6], Perks and Stokes, scrap merchants. All iron and steel activities were concentrated in the Norton business. Acme Conveyors and Construction of Kingswinford were part of the group.

By 1971 Bromford Spring Co and Kelo Spring Co were parts of the group[7]. Acquired H. E. Dean and Co, makers of small die castings[8]

1972 Acquired Fursland and Presdee[9]. Acquired Douglas Munro and Co, assemblers of commercial vehicle bodies[10]

1973 Shut Forgings and Fasteners (Wales) as the drop forging division continued to lose money[11].

1980 Sold British and Midland Stampings to Hill and Smith[12]. Hanson Trust had been working with the company for 18 months to address the losses[13] but when Hanson made a bid it was refused by the board[14].

1981 The bid from Hanson was not supported[15]

1981 A bid from a subsidiary of the Caparo investment company succeeded[16]

1986 CMT Engineering was established at Cradley Heath, West Midlands. (2013) 4 operating companies in engineering and manufacture of pipe fittings, anti-vibration mounts (inclduing Equiflex), insulation components, and thermoplastic clamps for both new and replacement applications[17].
