Cecil Aubrey Masey (1880-1960), Architect
Born in Lambeth, London, the son of Philip Edward Masey (c1824-1897), an architect.
Pupil of Bertie Crewe - with whom he worked on the Empire music hall in Edmonton of 1908
1909 Went into partnership with architect Roy Young
1915 Married at Streatham to Eva May Hurley
1931 ' Mr. Masey has designed between 25 and 30 theatres and kinemas in London and the provinces, among them being the Empire Kinema, Willesden (both the original building and the total reconstruction some eight years later; Rialto, Leytonstone; Princes, Kennington; Silver Kinema, Shepherd's Bush; Regal, Colchester; Pavilion, St. Neots; Electric Theatre, Bournemouth; Picture House, Boscombe (both the original building and the reconstruction after the fire); Granada, Dover; Granada, Walthamstow; King's Hall, Penge; Royal Hall, Jersey; Empire Kinema, West Ham; and now the Grenada, Tooting. He is now engaged on new theatres at Beccles, Northfields, Shrewsbury, and Poplar.[1]
