1902 Obituary [1]

CASPAR P. SCHUMACHER died on May 16, 1902. He received his technical training at the Berlin Polytechnic, which he entered after completing his course at the High School with honours.

Later he proceeded to Karlsruhe, following Professor Grasshof to that town, in order to continue and complete his studies under him there. He then accepted a position with Messrs. Dupont & Dreyfus at Ars-on-the-Moselle, and after a long period of service with this firm he finally entered his father's business at Cologne, in the capacity of manager. Subsequently in 1872 he founded, in conjunction with his brother-in-law, Mr. L. W. Breuer, the Kalker Werkzeugmaschinen-Fabrik, Breuer, Schumacher & Co., at Kalk, near Cologne.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1892.
