1879 John Carruthers returned to England and entered into practice on his own account, continuing as the Consulting Engineer of the New Zealand Government.

1883 Carruthers went to Venezuala

1884 Robert Wilson (1851-1898) established himself as a consulting engineer.

1891 Carruthers returned to London and resumed his consultancy work for the New Zealand government.

At some point George Wilson (1854-1910) joined the partnership.
