1907 Description of pumping plant at the South Dock, supplied by W. H. Allen, Son and Co, having three triple-expansion pumping engines of 900 indicated horse-power, direct coupled to three large centrifugal pumps, each capable of delivering 100,000 gallons of water per minute against an average head of 12 ft. at a mean speed of 105 rpm. Cylinders 19 in., 30 in., and 48 in. in diameter, with a 24-in. stroke.[1]
