Cyril Frank Elwell founded the company to supply wireless apparatus for maritime communication but later it moved on to manufacturing home radio receivers for use with the nascent radio broadcasting service.

Responsible for the supply and construction of the wooden ‘200 foot’ aerial towers used for radio transmitters and receivers before and during WWII. [1]
