Brown and Root

1919 Founded by Herman Brown and Daniel Root, initially building roads in Texas.

Expanded into major civil engineering projects

1959 Brown and Root (U.K.) Ltd was incorporated.

1962 Halliburton Energy Services acquired Brown & Root

1982 A subsidiary, Brown and Root Construction Ltd, was incorporated, to operate construction vessels and barges in Europe.

1990 The name of Brown and Root Construction Ltd was changed to Rockwater (UK) Ltd.

1991 Name changed to Brown and Root Ltd

1998 M. W. Kellogg merged with Halliburton's construction subsidiary, Brown & Root, to form Kellogg Brown & Root.

2000 Name of the UK business was changed to Halliburton Brown and Root Ltd

2002 Name changed to Kellogg Brown and Root Ltd with business in 5 areas:[1]

  • Operations and Maintenance (production services)
  • Onshore Operations
  • Offshore Operations
  • Government Operations, particularly to the MOD, providing particular services for the RAF and Army
  • Infrastructure.

2006 The Production Services Division in Aberdeen was sold.

2007 Halliburton separated from Kellogg Brown & Root, which had been its contracting, engineering, and construction unit. Kellogg Brown & Root was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
