From Graces Guide
January 1920.
March 1922.

Brown and Melhuish of Islington (then Tottenham), London.

The proprietors were Edwin George Brown (born circa 1884), an engineer, and John Melhuish (born circa 1888) who was a sheet metal worker. They established their business in 1912 with capital of £500. They were awarded large contracts for motor and aircraft parts during the Great War, and in 1919 their profits were £33,000. They also had a controlling interest in the Timber Fire Tank Co, about which nothing is known.

1922 Both Brown and Melhuish were convicted at the Old Bailey of fraud, after they were accused of evading tax through the use of fictitious invoices. Each was imprisoned for twelve months.
