British and Irish Magnetic Telegraph Co

1857 The British Electric Telegraph Co merged with the English and Irish Magnetic Telegraph Co to form the British and Irish Magnetic Telegraph Co.

1858 Chief office: 2 Exchange Buildings, Liverpool[1].

1869 The company was recorded as using Bright's acoustic telegraphic instrument[2].

1870 The cables laid in 1853 and 1854, together with the company itself, were taken over by the GPO.
