British Railways Board

1994. Procurement and Materials Management.

1962 One of the replacements for the British Transport Commission, oversaw the management of British Railways. It owned, amongst other entities, several UK ferry services.

1970 The Transport Act of 1968 allowed the railway to seek outside contracts and in 1970, the Workshops Division was renamed British Rail Engineering Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary Company of British Railways Board

1979 the assets and business of the Shipping and International Services Division of the Board were vested in a wholly-owned subsidiary, Sealink UK Limited.

1984 Sold all the shares in Sealink UK Limited to British Ferries Limited (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sea Containers)

1996 The British Railways Board remained owner of the operating companies until privatisation had been completed[1]
