1863 The Bristol and West of England Railway Wagon Co entered an arrangement with the "new company" rather than allow the formation of an opposition establishment. It was also agreed that the directors should be empowered to take a yard and premises at Swansea, or some other suitable position in South Wales, and that the name of the company should in future be "The Bristol and South Wales Railway Wagon Company (Limited)."[2]
