First successful gas turbine engine design from the Engine division of the Bristol Aeroplane Co.[1]

In the late 1950s Proteus gas turbines were used as main propulsion engines in Brave-class fast naval patrol boats, and were applied for back-up and emergency power generation by the Central Electricity Generating Board.
