1914 'Mr. F. G. Lucas, Governing Director of the Brilliant Sign Co., whose large Paragon Works are situated at Shepherd’s Bush, had an exciting experience in the Atlantic returning from the Argentine, where had been to reorganise the Brilliant Sign Co,, Ltd., of Buenos Aires, which has works fully equipped on lines similar to the Paragon Works in Uxbridge Road.'[2]
1916 'Mr. F. G. Lucas is the Governing Director of the Brilliant Sign Co., Ltd., and some eight years ago he purchased land at the back of 131c, Uxbridge Road, Shepherd's Bush, and built large works, finding employment for nearly 500 skilled workmen, which necessarily brought revenue to the borough in many ways. The Company are now engaged on important War Office and Admiralty contracts, to cope with which Mr. Lucas recently ordered nine new large machines from America (which when installed will make a total of 36 wood and metal working machines at Paragon Works). Mr. Lucas has alto recently established a branch factories in South America, Belgium, and Holland. '[3]
