1908 Description of lathes and a special type of gear-cutter shown at the Franco-British Exhibition.[1] [2]. The small lathe had some curious design features, including a bed comprising two square steel bars, and having the headstock on the right hand side. The gear cutting machine as of unusual design, intended solely for cutting the teeth in worm segments or sectors, such as are used for the steering-gear of automobiles, and a few other purposes.
