Brassey, Jackson, Fell and Jopling

Responsible for the construction of the railways from Piacenza to Bologna, and thence to Florence.

1852 For some years John Barraclough Fell was associated with Thomas Brassey, Jackson and Jopling - the firm being Brassey, Jackson, Fell and Jopling - in the construction of several of the early Italian railways, amongst which were the Central Railway of Italy, the Maremma Railway and the Genoa and Voltre Railway.

Traversing the Mont Cenis frequently by road led to Fell's development of the "Fell Centre-Rail System."
