1987 Acquired Andrews Industrial Equipment, distributor of portable heating equipment.

1988 The engineering division was reorganised to eliminate loss-making parts. Acquired SPP, enhancing the company's position in equipment hire[1]

1988 Name changed to Braithwaite Plc

1989 Acquired the pump rental business of Henry Sykes, forming Andrews Sykes Hire Ltd; sold Godiva Fire Pumps Co in order to concentrate on equipment rental; prepared the pump manufacturing business of SPP for sale[2]. Acquired Holton Air Conditioning[3]
