1833 Articles of Agreement were drawn up for the Braintree & Bocking Gas Company
1849 A Deed of Settlement of the Braintree and Bocking Gas Company is dated 1849, the company being reformed to take advantage of the Joint Stock Companies Act, and to raise more capital.
1874 Special Act, Braintree & Bocking Gas Co. Ltd. By-gas was being made from coal in HR, no CWG was made.
By 1914 A railway siding existed
By 1929 control had been acquired by the British Gas Light Co. Ltd.
1937 the annual make was 78.2mcf made using horizontal retorts.
1939 a Bulk supply was given by Braintree to Halstead, another British Gas Light subsidiary.
1949 At nationalisation vested in the Eastern Gas Board. The shortage of production capacity at Braintree needed immediate attention. A connection was made at once via Kelvedon and Witham.
1950 Gas making ceased during the latter part of 1950, being supplied from Chelmsford.
2018 Two above ground Spiral guided GH remained
