In Bishops Lydeard, Somerset

  • This is an old-established water mill, now a museum, containing flour milling and grading equipment from various eras. In addition, there are displays relating to village life and rural crafts, including thatching, blacksmithing, wheelwrighting and harness making. There is also a display relating to local transport, which includes a Model T Ford and several interesting bicycles.
  • The mill's waterwheel was made by Bishop Brothers of Wellington. The main vertical shaft is of great age, and is an impressive piece of work turned from hornbeam.
