1984 Microstone PLC was incorporated

1985 The company acquired Merchant Manufacturing Estate Co and changed its name to Merchant Manufacturing Estate Co PLC

1991 Acquired Stanelco Products Ltd, a manufacturer of high frequency thermal processing equipments; the group was renamed Stanelco PLC[1]

2005 Acquired Biotec, a German company.

2006 Change of strategy from manufacturing components to developing packaging and related products to meet the demand for sustainable packaging; this was based on R&D achievements in Germany and UK. There were 3 parts: Biotec, Aquasol and RF Applications; RF applications had concentrated on mobile welders, fibre optics, zirconia tubes, and general products and servicing.[2]

2010 Biotec became a simple 50/50 joint venture with SPhere SA on the expiration of the golden share. Stanelco's UK-based bioplastic business, which was growing fast, was renamed Biome Bioplastics. The other business division was RF Applications[3]

2010 Stanelco Plc was renamed Biome Technologies plc (Biome Technologies), a technology company. The Company’s primary activity is the development of its business in bioplastics. It is a supplier of biodegradable natural polymers that replace and enhance products made from oil based materials. The Company supplies a range of bioplastics that replace existing oil based materials in a variety of applications.

Biome Technologies operates in two divisions: Bioplastics and Stanelco RF Technologies.

  • The Bioplastics Division is comprised of two operating companies: Biome Bioplastics, a supplier of plastics made from renewable resources and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. Biotec, which is a 50% owned joint-venture that provides manufactured bioplastic product to Biome Bioplastics, in addition to collaborating in the development of new materials.
