Pupil of Sir Joseph Whitworth's at Manchester Works.
Managing Engineer to the Electrical Power Storage Co
1886 Founded Drake and Gorham Ltd.
1888 Walter Claude Johnson and Mr B M Drake built and equipped works at Charlton for making storage batteries and formed the D. P. Battery Co
1900 Director Monobloc Accumulator Syndicate; Drake and Gorham Electric Power and Traction Co
1922 Managing Engineer of the Brush Midland Electric Light Co. and the Great Western Brush Co, Chairman of the Tudor Accumulator Co.
1931 Died; succeeded by his son Hamlyn Drake as chairman of Drake and Gorham[1]
