Batchworth Mill

1755 Batchworth Mill first made paper in 1755
Known as Mill No 433 in the Excise List.
1818 The mill was occupied by the Fourdriniers when John Dickinson took it over for the production of half-stuff for use at his other mills (Apsley and Nash at that time) in 1818.
N.B. In 1818 the canal was diverted at Apsley, which would have enabled him to use the canal for transportation.
1888 John Dickinson and Co gave up the lease after Croxley Mill had been remodelled to become the prime paper=making centre for the Company.
