1889 The company was registered on 8 April.[1] The company had a capital of £110,000, and proposed to purchase, lease, construct, or maintain graving docks, premises, etc. at Barry, and to trade as shipbuilders, engineers, and dry dock owners.[2]

By 1898 2183 vessels had used the dock.
1898 The company constructed a new single graving dock alongside the original double dock.
1961 Ship repairers, iron founders and dry dock owners. [3]
