Barrow Chemical Wood Pulp Co
1888 The Barrow Chemical Wood Pulp Company Limited was registered, with a capital of £120,000, to manufacture and deal in chemical wood pulp, paper pulp, half stuff, and paper making materials[1]
Directors:- Edward Partington, Esq., J.P., Manchester and Glossop (Chairman and Managing Director); Thomas Briggs, Esq., Manchester and Barrow-in-Furness (Director of the Furness Railway Company); Edward Platt, Esq., Cotton Manufacturer, Hadfield, Derbyshire; A H Strongitharm, Esq., J.P., Civil and Mining Engineer, Barrow-in-Furness; and one director to be appointed by the Ramsbottom Paper Mill Company Limited.[2]
Their works was built at the north east corner of the Cavendish Dock.[3]
1889 The company was subsumed by a new and larger enterprise under the name of Kellner-Partington Paper Pulp Co Limited, with a capital of £720,000.[4]
