From Graces Guide

In 1780 a survey listed 40 forts and batterys and 364 working guns on the south and west coast of the island.

In 2009 some 188 guns had been found and identified in the island and of these 130 are in the National Collection.

  • Demi-cannon. 6.5/6.75-inch bore. (32 or 36 pounder)
  • Small Demi-cannon. 6-inch bore. (24 pounder)
  • Culverin. 5 / 5.5-inch bore. (18 pounder)
  • Demi-culverin. 4.5/4.75-inch bore. (12 pounder)
  • Small Demi-culverin. 4.25-inch bore. (9 pounder)
  • Saker. 3.5-inch bore. (5 or 6 pounder)
  • Minion. 3.25-inch bore. (3 or 4 pounder)
