1870 Company formed by George Harrington in association with the American Telegraph Works [1] to commercialise the improved "automatic" telegraph invented by Thomas Edison. [2]

Edison left the company soon afterwards having spent much more money that had been expected by the funders.

c.1872 Edison returned to the company.

1874 Company acquired by the Atlantic and Pacific Telegraph Co.

1881 Company incorporated[3]
