1848 Partnership dissolved: 'Jackson, Astin, Barker, and Company, of Todmorden, Rochdale, millwrights, 18th Dec. Debts by W. Sutcliffe, of Langfield.'[1]

1864 Produced the cast iron eastern extension to widen the road bridge over the Rochdale Canal in Todmorden (see photos).

1918 'Mr. James Barker of Elder Bank, Walsden, head of the firm of Messrs. Astin and Barker of Salford Ironworks, Todmorden, left £12,569, of which £12,120 is net personalty. Mr. Barker was found dead in a chair at his residence in March last.'[2]. He was 55.
