Born the son of James Hardy and his wife Elizabeth Sanders

1881 Residing at Knighton Drive, Knighton, Leics: Arthur Hardy (age 35 born Loughborough), Architect and surveyor. With his wife Ellen, one daughter and two sons.[1]

1891 Residing at Knighton Drive, Knighton, Leics: Arthur Hardy (age 45 born Loughborough), Director of shoe manufacturing Co. With his wife Ellen, two daughters and three sons; Arthur E. Hardy (age 13 born Leicester), Reginald H. Hardy (age 10 born Knighton) and Eric H. Hardy (age 7 born Knighton).[2]

1891 October 05th. Died, 'after a painful illness'[3] of Knighton, Merchant. Will proved by Edward Wood of Hazlehurst, 9 Granville Road, Leicester, a Merchant; Herbert William Wilshere, Chartered Accountant; and Ellen Hardy, the widow.
