Arthur Ernest Hardy (c1878-1949) of Freeman, Hardy and Willis

1911 Residing at Arthog, 14 Sandown Road, Leicester: Arthur Ernest Hardy (age 33 born Leicester), Secretary of Limited Company - Boot and Shoe Manufacturer. With his wife Helen Mabel and sons David Arthur Hardy (age 1) and Hugh Rawson Hardy (age 4 months).[1]

1949 Died. 'Mr. Arthur Ernest Hardy, whose death following a long illness has occurred at his home, Southlands, Knighton Grange-road, Leicester, was formerly a director and secretary of Freeman Hardy and Willis, Ltd., the shoe manufacturing and distributing concern. Mr. Hardy was the son of the original Hardy whose name appears in the company's title. Joining the company direct from Wyggeston School, he later was appointed assistant secretary, secretary, and finally joined the board of directors. He retired three years ago on account of ill-health. Mr. Hardy held a number of offices at Victoria-road Church. He leaves a widow, three sons, and two daughters. One of his sons, Mr. Hugh Hardy, is an executive with Freeman Hardy and Willis, Ltd.'[2]
