1950 ARMSTRONG-SIDDELEY WHITLEY

The latest of the Armstrong-Siddeley models is the Whitley, a four-door, four-light saloon in semi razor-edge style. It takes its name from the twin-engined Armstrong-Whitworth Whitley bomber, which was a front-line aircraft in the early stages of the 1939-45 struggle.

Here, again, the accent is on well-appointed comfort combined with mechanical reliability. Particular attention has been paid to temperature control and a silent air conditioning unit is mounted under the bonnet of the car, circulating cold or warm air in the saloon as required. Built-in ducts are so arranged that hot air can he directed to the windscreen to overcome misting or frosting.

In common with the other two Armstrong-Siddeley models, the Whitley is a high-class product of British motor engineering in which the styling has followed normal lines of development, but without detracting from its obvious appeal to motorists overseas.
