Woollen Cloth Manufacturers.

1794 Established by John Apperly. See David Apperly and his son Sir Alfred Apperly

1837 Succeeded by his sons James Apperly and David Apperly.

1856 Partnership dissolved. '...the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us the undersigned, James Apperly and David Apperly, as Cloth Manufacturers, at Dudbridge Mills, near Stroud, in the county of Gloucester, has been this day dissolved by mutual consent.'[1]

1872 Continued as Alfred Apperly & Co.

1895 Limited company formed. Directors are: A. Apperly, C. Curtis, E. Apperly, C. Apperly and W. Clissold.[2]

1910 'In 1794 the firm of Apperley, Curtis and Co., was founded: and now such has been its continued success that recently it celebrated the erection and opening of extensive new mills'[3]

1926 Apperley Curtis Co., Ltd., woollen cloth manufacturers, of Dudbridge. close down for a week, affecting about 170 employees.[4]

1933 Plant Sale. '... in an action Re APPERLY CURTIS & COMPANY Limited, CURTIS v. THE COMPANY, 1931, A. No. 1122, with the approbation of Mr. Justice Eve, the freehold :and leasehold land and the plant, machinery, stock-in-trade, goodwill and undertaking of Apperly Curtis & Company Limited, Woollen and Worsted Cloth Manufacturers, situate at Dudbridge, Stroud, Gloucester, in one lot as a going concern comprising all the undermentioned sections...[much more]'[5][6]
