Andrew Schlanders Nelson ( -1913), managing director of Hurst, Nelson and Co

1913 Obituary [1]

ANDREW SCHLANDERS NELSON, who died on January 21, 1913, was the managing director of the firm of Hurst, Nelson & Co., Ltd., the Glasgow Rolling Stock and Plant Works, Motherwell.

Mr. Nelson was the founder of the firm which has been in existence for upwards of thirty years, and whose operations with their headquarters now embrace three important branch works in England and Wales. It was largely owing to his personal initiative and control that the business has been rapidly developed into one of the most important rolling stock firms in the country.

He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1904.
